Beginning Fall 2014, law students can gain free membership to The Legal Aid Society’s New Leadership Program (“NLP”) through individual law school chapters. NLP Chapters provide students the opportunity to connect with like-minded peers interested in public service and issues facing New York’s most vulnerable individuals and families. NLP Chapter members can also enjoy exposure to The Legal Aid Society’s workings, problem solving tactics, innovation, and staff dedication though community service days and social networking events.
New Leadership Program: The New Leadership Program (NLP) is a dynamic group of accomplished young professionals who share The Legal Aid Society’s belief that no New Yorker should be denied access to justice because of poverty. The program is comprised of young professionals from the legal, financial, business and arts communities who have chosen the Society as one of their primary philanthropic commitments.
Chapter Recruitment: The NLP is currently recruiting individuals to lead on-campus chapter roll-out beginning with an information session for interested students planned for the end of May 2014. Come brain storm chapter content and recruitment while networking with NLP Board Members from NYC’s top law firms and Legal Aid staff. To participate email a copy of your resume and a short summary of why you are interested in participating to Ebormann@legal-aid.org.
