Author Marianne Williamson said “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.” Even when they are the boss, some say women shrink from exercising power to its fullest extent, and they shy away from displays of power, even when appropriate and beneficial. Most agree that it is important for women to understand that this is what power is for–to liberate themselves and to allow others to shine. Women who have risen to general counsel in their companies will discuss how they use power wisely and appropriately to advance their clients’ interests and will reflect on the causes that inspired them on their rise.

Among other questions raised at the session, we expect our panelists to discuss: What help did you receive – from men and women – on your way to the top?; Do you use your power to help those still struggling on lower rungs of the corporate ladder?; Have you used your power in ways for which you later had regrets?; How has having power affected your personal relationships at work and at home?
