In preparation for EIW, you have an opportunity to conduct a practice interview with an alumni practitioner during the summer. Although this is not mandatory if you participated in a mock interview, we strongly recommend that you participate so that you have an opportunity to discuss your 1L summer position and make great networking contacts in advance of EIW. If you did not participate in a mock interview (either with an OCS counselor or during a practice interview evening), you are required to participate in AIM or PIE. If you have not fulfilled your practice interview requirement, you should have received a separate email from OCS.
Students participating in the AIM Program will be matched for a practice interview with an attorney who is located in the city where they will be working this summer. If you will be working this summer in either Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, London, Los Angeles, Miami, Philadelphia, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, or Washington, DC, please sign up BY CITY ON CSM via the CSM Events tab. Once OCS matches you with an attorney, you will be responsible for making arrangements with the attorney to meet at his/her office at a mutually convenient time during the summer. Your AIM meeting will consist of a 20-30-minute practice interview, followed by feedback and (in some cases) a discussion of the job search process. (Estimated time: 1 to 1½ hours at the firm.)
If you will be working in a city other than those listed above, including internationally, please sign up for the “Attorney Interview Match (AIM) – Other Cities” option on CSM (via the CSM Events tab) and email kim.karp@nyu.edu indicating the city in which you will be working this summer. Please use the Subject Line: Request to sign up for AIM – Other Cities. We will do our best to accommodate your request. Historically, we have been able to match most students, even those in smaller cities and working internationally, through the AIM Program. Monday, June 2 at 6:00 p.m. EST is the deadline to sign up for the AIM Program.
OCS will notify you of your attorney match by July 8, 2014. If the AIM Program is unable to match you with an attorney, you will then be automatically registered for PIE, taking place on-campus at NYU on Monday evening, August 11, 2014. Please note that space in PIE is extremely limited and is reserved only for those students who will not be working in a major metropolitan area this summer and could not be matched through the AIM program. During PIE, you will meet with an attorney for approximately 30 minutes, which will consist of a 20-minute practice interview, followed by approximately 10 minutes of feedback. (Estimated time: 35-45 minutes at PIE.)
