Regularly during the school year, the Dean hosts roundtable discussions with prominent guests who have utilized their law degrees in a variety of nontraditional ways. Over lunch with a small group of students, guests speak autobiographically about their work experiences, sharing valuable insight about how they found their chosen path. Please note that the roundtables are informal and off-the-record.

Yves Sisteron (MCJ ’83), who will be the Dean’s guest on Thursday, September 4, has been a Partner at Upfront Ventures since its founding in 1996. Prior to Upfront, he managed the U.S. investments of Fourcar B.V., a division of Carrefour S.A., the second largest retailer in the world. In this capacity, he was an investor in numerous private equity investments in a number of venture capital, emerging growth and later-stage retailing transactions.

Before his involvement with Fourcar, he served as a Management Consultant advising French companies on the strategic and legal issues of conducting business and investing in the United States. He serves as a Member of the Board of Directors at Little Black Bag Inc and Health Data Vision, Inc. since March 1, 2013. Mr. Sisteron serves as a Director at GumGum, Inc. He has been a Director at Envestnet, Inc. since 2004 and serves its lead director. He is also a Member of the Board of Directors at eStyle Inc.; Envestnet Asset Management, Inc., HealthDataInsights; and Protege Holdings Ltd. He served as the Chairman at PETsMART.com Inc. since May 12, 1999.

Mr. Sisteron has SaaS/Cloud Software and Consumer Internet / Consumer domain expertise, and has helped build $1B+ businesses in both verticals and has operational experience at a leading European retailer. Mr. Sisteron received a J.D. and a Master’s degree from the University of Law at Lyon, France. He also holds an LLM in Comparative Law from the New York University School of Law.

The Dean’s roundtables are open to 18 interested NYU School of Law JD and graduate students. In order to achieve a representational mix of students, we will designate a proportionate number of seats to JD students and graduate students, respectively, to be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. The roundtables will begin at 12:30 P.M. in Snow Dining Room. If you would like to attend a roundtable, please sign up in advance by emailing Alexandria Trempe at lexi.trempe@nyu.edu. Please indicate whether you are a JD or graduate student, and whether you have any dietary restrictions.
