Federal Defenders of New York, Inc., (which represents criminal defendants in federal court who cannot afford private counsel) is seeking an LLM student fluent in French for a part-time internship which will extend throughout the fall semester and probably the whole year.
Legal experience in or knowledge of Africa is preferred, but not required. Ability to speak Arabic in addition to French is also preferred, but not required.
Tasks will include researching information about specific alleged crimes and people in newspapers and scholarly sources, and reviewing, analyzing and summarizing legal documents. The work will be ongoing but intermittent, anywhere between 2 and 10 hours per week.
