The Public Interest Law Center (PILC) enthusiastically invites you to attend a beginning-of-law-school retreat, to take place on Sunday, September 21, from noon to 6:00 p.m.  The keynote speaker will be Jennifer Ching ’00, Director of Queens Legal Services, and sessions will also cover the inner workings of prosecuting and defending a Somali pirate, what it means to be a poverty lawyer, transitional justice in Rwanda, and the intersectionality between race, gender, and HIV status. In addition to cutting edge public interest issues, the retreat will involve frank conversations about the stresses of law school, great food, games, and a happy hour – all with lots of chances to get to know other public interest students and alumni.  We prefer that students participate in the entire retreat, rather than coming in and out. However, if you will be attending Family Day, we invite you to drop by to see the retreat as well!  For more information and to register, click here.  Space is limited and registration will be on a first come first served basis – so register today!
