Dear 3L’s,
Gideon’s Promise Law School Partnership Program (“LSPP”) is inviting applications for 2015-16. You can read about LSPP here:

In short, NYU Law may nominate up to one 3L to work at one of the participating public defender offices in the South for a year, after which that person will be guaranteed a full time, paid job with the public defender office. For the first year, NYU would pay a very modest stipend but no health benefits.
The participating offices which NYU students may rank are as follows:
Birmingham, AL
Augusta, GA
Covington, LA
Lafayette, LA
Columbia, SC
Lumberton, NC
Sioux Falls, SD
Nashville, TN
Memphis, TN
Knoxville, TN
You would find out if you were accepted to the program by January 15, 2015, but as NYU must choose its nominee (if any) by October 25, 2014, we will only consider candidates who are willing to withdraw their applications for other jobs if chosen to participate in this program. This is only an opportunity for those so committed to working at an underfunded office in the South, that you are willing to forfeit the chance of a staff attorney job at any other office.
