What: Informational Meeting about the NYU Law Public Service Auction
Who: 1Ls
When and Where: Tuesday, Oct. 7, 11:00 a.m. (Furman Hall, Rm. 216) OR Tuesday, Oct. 7, 6:15 p.m. (Vanderbilt Hall, Rm. 218)
Why: The majority of 1Ls will work a public interest internship the summer after their 1L year. Because most public interest organizations do not pay their student interns, 1Ls in these positions are eligible for a summer stipend through NYU Law.
If you are a 1L who is considering working a public interest internship (including government or judicial internships) during Summer 2015 and want to receive summer funding, you must participate in some form in NYU Law’s Annual Public Service Auction, which raises funds for student summer stipends. The Auction is also a lot of fun! We will be holding two brief informational meetings and strongly encourage all 1Ls to attend one of them to learn how to get involved and so that you can get your assignment out of the way well before the exam period.
Unsure if you need a summer stipend? About two-thirds of 1L students do. We encourage you to attend one of the meetings just in case.
In addition, further information about the public interest search and how to get PILC Summer funding will be discussed at PILC’s 1L Job Search Workshop on Monday, October 20, at 12:30pm.
If you are unable to attend either meeting time on October 7, please e-mail nyupilcauction@gmail.com with the subject line “[1L] Unable to attend meeting.”
