and brief descriptions follow.

The International Law and Human Rights Fellowship Program is coordinated by the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice (CHRGJ) in cooperation with the Institute for International Law and Justice (IILJ) with the support of the Public Interest Law Center (PILC). Individuals who are current full-time 1L, 2L, LLM and JSD students at NYU are eligible to apply. For more information, see www.chrgj.org/opportunities/fellowships.html. The Fellowship has two major components: a 10-12 week internship in summer 2015 at one of many international organizations and a post-internship academic research paper. The list of ILHR program internship organizations includes international tribunals (e.g. ICTY, ECCC); UN organizations (e.g., ILC, UNHCR); and international and national NGOs (e.g., groups in locations as diverse as Beijing, Bangkok, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Dhaka, Johannesburg, Kampala, London, New Delhi, Ramallah, Tel Aviv and Windhoek). Selection of ILHR Fellows is competitive, through an application and interview process, expected to conclude by late November with selection in early December. The ILHR Fellowship application will be available on October 17 on the CHRGJ website (www.chrgj.org).

Note: There will be an informal meeting for students for interested students to meet with former participants in the ILHR Fellowship program. That meeting will take place on Wednesday, October 29 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. in Golding Lounge in Vanderbilt Hall. For more information, contact Tish Armstrong, CHRGJ Fellowship Coordinator, tish.armstrong@nyu.edu.

  • Applications will be due by noon on Wednesday, November 12.

Helaine Barnett Fellowship at the Legal Services Corporation

The Helaine Barnett Summer Fellowship Program sends a first or second year law student at the New York University (NYU) School of Law to work at the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) at its office in Washington, DC.  For more information, contact Helaine Barnett at helainebarnett@aol.com.

  • Applications are due on January 7.

The Hague Conference on Private International Law Internship

This internship is coordinated by Professor Linda Silberman. Selection for an internship at The Hague Conference on Private International Law will be subject to its own application and process. For more information, contact Richard Kelsey, Assistant to Professor Silberman, Kelsey@exchange.law.nyu.edu.

  • Applications are expected to be available in January 2015.

Guarini Center for Environmental and Land Use Law Fellowship Program
The Guarini Center for Environmental and Land Use Law selects up to ten first-year and second-year students for the Fellowship Program. It is designed to encourage and support students interested in public interest environmental law, international or domestic, through summer internships, mentoring by the School’s environmental and land use faculty, and exposure to leading practitioners in the field.  The Program provides grants for summer internships to students working in environmental and land use law with environmental groups, government agencies, and other public interest law practice institutions in the United States or abroad. Recipients will be required to attend a specialized workshop by faculty before their summer internship and attend a series of workshops in the fall term after the internship.  Selections will be made by a faculty committee consisting of Professors Vicki Been, Richard Stewart, and Katrina Wyman.  For more information, contact Michelle Wolfson, Assistant to Professor Stewart, michelle.wolfson@nyu.edu.

  • Applications will be due February 3.

Sudler Family Fellowship

The Sudler Family Fellowship will support approximately ten NYU Law 1L’s and 2L’s spending their summers at state and federal prosecutors anywhere in the United States.  This fellowship is available only to students who have already secured summer internships at federal or state prosecutor offices throughout the United States.  Sudler Family Fellows will receive $8,000 instead of a regular PILC grant, and will participate in a special training program in late March, which will include meeting the donor.  The selection committee will be a panel of former and/or current prosecutors who are connected to NYU School of Law.  For more information contact pilc.info@nyu.edu.

  • Applications are due February 20.

Ford Foundation Law School Public Interest Fellowship
The Ford Foundation Law School Public Interest Fellowship will support 1L and 2L students interning with Ford Foundation grantee organizations in the U.S. and abroad during summer 2015. Fellows will receive a $1500 stipend in addition to their PILC grants. Working closely with lawyers and advocates, students will be exposed to a variety of diverse practice settings and gain insight into such topics as reproductive rights; civil rights; gay, lesbian, and transgender rights; immigrants’ rights; prisoners’ and ex-offenders’ rights, voting rights; children’s rights; and other issues of social justice and equity.  It is anticipated that 10 summer fellowships will be awarded to NYU students. For more information contact pilc.info@nyu.edu.

  • Applications are due February 23.
