2014 Fall Ball Policy and Guidelines
The Student Affairs team is excited to announce that one of the most enjoyable social events of the year, Fall Ball, will be held on Thursday, October 30 in Vanderbilt Hall. We are looking forward to seeing you express your creativity with your costumes as you have a relaxing and safe night. Enjoy music, dancing, fortune tellers, and much more!
Timing: This year, the doors to the party will open at 7:30 p.m. and the event will conclude at 11:30 p.m., with bars closing at 11:00 p.m.
Admission: Admission is FREE and includes light snacks and (5) drink tickets. Your NYU ID (with a current Commuter or Residence Hall sticker*) AND a valid state-issued photo ID or passport with proof of age must be presented at the door. As a reminder this event is open to NYU Law students only (with the limited exception of guests who were previously selected by lottery). (*Please visit the Office of Student Affairs if you still need your SOLL Commuter sticker.)
Attire: This year, your fellow students selected as a theme: “SEVEN DEADLY SINS.” Creative and themed costumes are encouraged!
Please note: you will not be able to enter the building carrying large bags or backpacks. Refrain from bringing any props for your costumes that might pose a danger to others (e.g., baseball bats, hockey sticks, pointy swords, etc.). Students carrying such items will be denied entry.
Vanderbilt Hall Lockers & Coat Check: There will be no access to any of the locker rooms, or the first floor coat check in Vanderbilt Hall during this event. These rooms will be closed beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 30, and will reopen on Friday, October 31 at 8:30 a.m. There will be a coat check located on the second floor of Vanderbilt Hall for the duration of the event.
Library Access: The Law Library will be CLOSED at 7:30 p.m. on October 30, and for the duration of the event. It will reopen for regular hours on October 31.
Alcohol Use: Please be aware that any person appearing to be intoxicated upon arrival will NOT be admitted to the event. Please also be aware that bartenders will NOT serve any person that should become intoxicated during the event. You may not bring alcoholic beverages into the event.
Room Capacity: Please keep in mind that various event spaces within Vanderbilt Hall, such as Greenberg Lounge, have fire code regulated room capacity limits. When those limits have been reached, students wishing to enter these spaces may be required to wait in line for entry.
Photography Notice: There will be photographers at the event. Pictures taken may be posted at a later date by the Office of Student Affairs or the Office of Communications.
Your Actions Matter!: Please be mindful that inappropriate behavior at this event may have long term consequences, including potential obstacles to bar admission. We want everyone to have a fun experience and we ask everyone to behave responsibly.
