If you are graduating in January and are interested in taking the upcoming February 2014 New York State Bar Exam, the on-line application for the exam is available at http://www.nybarexam.org/. Students who wish to use a paper application should contact The New York State Board of Law Examiners (BOLE) office at 518-453-5990 for further information. All on-line applications must be received through the BOLE online system between November 1, 2014 and November 30, 2014.
After the application period closes, the bar will email you the “Law School Certificate of Attendance” and a “Specimen of Applicant’s Handwriting Form”. You must submit the “Law School Certificate of Attendance”, the “State Bar Request Form” and a “Specimen of Applicant’s Handwriting Form” to the Office of Records and Registration, Furman Hall Room 400. The “State Bar Request Form” is available at http://law.nyu.edu/recordsandregistration/barexams/index.htm. Please DO NOT complete the “Specimen of Applicant’s Handwriting Form” until you are in the presence of a staff member of the Office of Records & Registration. The deadline to submit these forms to our office is January 16, 2015.
LLM students who are required to successfully complete an LL.M. degree at an ABA-approved law school in the United States must complete a “LL.M. Certificate of Attendance Form” in addition to the “State Bar Request Form” and “Specimen of Applicant’s Handwriting Form”. The LL.M. Certificate of Attendance Form” is available at http://www.nybarexam.org/Foreign/NYSBOLE_LLMSchoolCert_FillableForm.pdf.
