The International Law and Human Rights Fellowship Program is coordinated by the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice (CHRGJ) in cooperation with the Institute for International Law and Justice (IILJ), with the support of the Public Interest Law Center (PILC). Individuals who are current full-time 1L, 2L, LLM and JSD students at NYU are eligible to apply.

The ILHR Fellowship Program is designed to provide NYU students with the opportunity to gain education in the theory and practice of international law and human rights law. The Fellowship has two major components: a 10-12 week internship at one of 30 international organizations and a post-internship academic research paper. The internships generally occur in the summer but the timing for some internships may be adjusted to the fall. The ILHR Fellowship provides a stipend of $4,500 (1Ls) or $6,500 (2Ls, LLMs and JSDs). The list of ILHR Fellowship internship organizations includes:

•        UN and intergovernmental organizations – International Law Commission, UNHCR field offices in Amman, Ankara, Beirut and Dakar, and IOM in Bangkok

•        International and national NGOs (e.g., groups in locations as diverse as Beijing, Bogotá, Buenos Aires, Dhaka, Johannesburg, Kampala, London, New Delhi, Ramallah, Tel Aviv and Windhoek)

•        International tribunals – the ICTY, ECCC and STL

The ILHR Fellowship application and more information are available at http://www.chrgj.org/opportunities/fellowships.html.

Applications are due by noon on Wednesday, November 12. Selection of ILHR Fellows is competitive, through an application and interview process, expected to conclude by late November, with selection in early December.
