In order to be admitted to the New York State Bar, all students must have completed at least 50 hours of eligible pro bono work by the time they submit admission paperwork to their assigned Judicial Department. For more information, please see this link and read the pro bono rule and FAQs.
You can find pro bono placement opportunities by following these instructions on Symplicity:
- Log onto your Symplicity profile. From the homepage, click on the “Job Postings” tab.
- Click “Advanced Search.”
- Under “Position Type,” select “Legal: Pro Bono [for students ONLY]” and under “Class Level” select “LLM Student.”
- Click the Search button.
- If you would like to view all placement opportunities in one document, click the “+” sign above the first listed placement and click “View Printable Job List.”
All of the NYU Law-sourced opportunities will come up labeled as “LLM Pro Bono Placement” or “Pro Bono Placement.”
You may also find pro bono opportunities directly through your own contacts or Internet searches.
