We are excited to announce an information session for all student groups interested in receiving funding for academic programming for the 2016-17 school year. Funding for these programs is given out once a year through a competitive application system with funding decisions made by the Student Intellectual Life Committee (comprised of faculty, administrators and students). The application deadline is Friday, March 4, 2016.
Professor Daniel Hulsebosch, chairperson of the Student Intellectual Life Committee, will be holding an information session for all journals and student groups interested in applying for funding for the 2016-17 school year on November 23 from 12:50-1:50 p.m. in Furman Hall, Room 212. Any journal or student group interested in submitting an application should send a representative to this meeting. We ask that you identify and invite to this meeting 2Ls in your group or journal who might want to play a leadership role in your symposium or other academic program next year.
Please note that the committee has been renamed this year and no longer is called the Symposia Funding Committee. We have determined that many full-day symposia do not serve the needs of the students and the rest of the Law School community particularly well. This year the committee wants to open up the application to a broader variety of programs including shorter academic panels, brown bag lunch series, film showings, workshops, roundtables, and other kinds of events that might appeal to students and serve the needs of our Law School community. The most innovative programming will likely get the most positive reaction from the funding committee. Applications that seek funding for symposia will be accepted, however.
If you do plan to attend, you must fill out this registration form by no later than Thursday, November 19. Please email tracee.nwafor@nyu.edu if you have any questions.
