Welcome back for the spring 2016 semester. This is just a reminder that classes begin Tuesday, January 19. As you know, daily add/drop has begun and continues each day between 1:30 pm until 9:30 am the following morning. Daily add/drop will end on January 27 at 9:30 am. If you would like to make a change to your schedule during this time you may add/drop classes and/or place yourself on a waitlist.
Here is a brief checklist to ensure that you have not missed important matters regarding the start of classes.
Class Assignments
NYUClasses – Check NYUClasses for syllabi and assignments for any courses for which you are registered. It is important to check NYU Classes on a regular basis as professors may post new assignments and information at any time. Please note that not all faculty post assignments. You should email law.helpdesk@nyu.edu if you have any issues or difficulties with accessing NYU Classes.
Course Syllabi or Early Semester Assignments – Not registered for a course but considering registering during add/drop? Check the Course Syllabi and Early Semester Assignments web page.
Attendance: You should check the course descriptions of your classes regarding attendance. There are some professors who state that they will drop students if they miss the first class.
Schedules of Classes and Course Requirements: Please be sure to do a final review of the spring 2016 course schedule, course requirements, exam schedule, pre/co-requisites and any information which is stated in the course description. Be sure to check the course schedule for any revised room assignments.
Calendars: Please pay careful attention to the dates and deadlines in the Academic Calendar and Registration Calendar as these are firm and final.
For 2Ls, 3Ls and LLMs only:
Course Updates: All changes in the curriculum will and have been posted on the Course Updates web site. You must check the site regularly for updated course information such as new courses, canceled courses, corrections to the schedule, as well as to review requirements, dates, deadlines, final examination information, etc.
Closed Seminars/Colloquia/Simulations: The law school rules permit faculty to admit up to two students to closed seminars/colloquia/simulations during the first class meeting (depending on space availability in the room) outside the regular registration procedures. However, please remember that the limit is two students regardless of the number of instructors, and that we will admit only the first two students who come with permission from the instructor. Please obtain an add/drop form from Academic Services, have the professor sign the same and return it to Academic Services immediately. The instructors should not admit any students until after the first meeting because students may be able to gain admission online using ABRA.
Finally, we hope you have a wonderful spring 2016 semester! If you have any questions after reading this email and the above links to the web site please contact the Office of Academic Services: Furman Hall 400, (212) 998-6020 or law.acadservices@nyu.edu.
NOTE: University offices are closed for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day beginning Friday, January 15 at 4:00 pm and will reopen on Tuesday, January 19 at 9:00 am.
