For the past 20+ years the New York City Bar Association (NYCBA) has conducted a Diversity Fellowship program, which places first year law students in participating law firms and corporate or government legal departments as paid summer associates. These students come from eleven NY metro law schools and are committed to furthering the goal of diversity in the legal profession. All students are welcome and encouraged to apply. Each of you should make an individual determination regarding your ability to contribute to diversity at a law firm, corporation, or government office. We advise that each applicant be able to discuss with the interview committees his/her diverse background and commitment to furthering the goal of diversity in the legal profession.
The program provides an outstanding opportunity to work in the private and public sectors during your 1L summer. The opportunity allows students to gain invaluable work experience, make important contacts, and in several instances, find an organization to which they would ultimately return upon graduation. NYU School of Law students have historically done extremely well in securing fellowships through the program.
The application deadline is after the Winter Break on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. Applications, and an informational tip sheet, are available under the Job Tab on CSM/Symplicity (https://law-nyu-csm.symplicity.com/students); CSM Job ID # 441552. Once you submit your application, please make sure to sign up for an interview time slot under the Events Tab on CSM/Symplicity.
