FORUM ON LAW, CULTURE & SOCIETY

Feb. 2nd, 8:15pm / 92nd Street Y, 1395 Lexington Ave

Football may be America’s national pastime, but the sport also causes concussions and brain injuries. A federal judge recently approved the NFL Concussion Settlement in a class action filed by more than 4,000 former players. However, 90 players have appealed and about 200 have opted out of the settlement. Join us for a discussion less than a week before the Super Bowl, tackling topics including the neurological consequences of football, the responsibility of the NFL to its players and its prior knowledge of brain injuries and the ramifications of the settlement itself.

Joining the conversation will be legendary New York Giants Hall of Famer, Harry Carson, ESPN reporter and League of Denial bestselling author Mark Fainaru-Wada, class settlement co-counsel Christopher A. Seeger, and appealing NFL players’ lawyer, Deepak Gupta.
