The European Commission President, Jean-Claude Juncker, recently talked about the ‘polycrises’ facing Europe. Whether it is on migration, terrorism, debt, possible British exit, or public disenchantment with traditional politics, the European Union and its member states face difficult challenges on many fronts. How are the EU-level institutions – Commission, Parliament and Council – responding? What is the added value that common European action can bring to the table? What is the outlook for European politics at a time of uncertainty and change?
