April 12: Considering a Career in Prosecution? Talk to a Hiring and Diversity Officer at a Prosecutor’s Office

Calling all current students who may be interested in prosecution work.  If you are considering a career in prosecution when you graduate or later in your career and you would like to learn more about the characteristics in applicants that are most sought by prosecutor offices, please join us for a conversation with Bonnie Sard, Administrative Assistant District Attorney and Director of Legal Hiring at the New York County District Attorney’s Office (DANY), on Tuesday, April 12, 2016 from 12:30 – 2:00 pm in FH 216.  As Director of Legal Hiring, Ms. Sard has direct oversight of the Permanent and Summer Legal Hiring Boards for DANY.  Ms. Sard makes recommendations to the District Attorney on the hiring, promotion and reallocating of legal staff, legal staff management issues, and diversity outreach efforts for legal and support staff.

 

Prior to serving in her current role, Ms. Sard served from  as the inaugural Chief of the Conviction Integrity Program.  As Chief of the Conviction Integrity Program, she worked to ensure that DANY set the standard among prosecutors’ offices for fair and ethical prosecutions.  Ms. Sard joined DANY in 1994, and was assigned to the trial division where she prosecuted a wide variety of street-level crimes including homicides, robberies, burglaries and drug offenses, and where she was a member of the Sex Crimes Unit. She later served as Deputy Bureau Chief of Trial Bureau 60.
