Please join us for the next International Tax Program Luncheon Lecture, to be delivered by Robert van der Jagt and Marieke Koerts. The will offer an update on recent EU Tax Law developments.
The EU wants to be at the forefront of the fight against aggressive tax planning. Many proposals and actions have been initiated to achieve this. The landscape and state of affairs change virtually every month. This session will address the latest developments, such as EU state aid cases, the Panama papers, (public) country-by-country reporting, Brexit, the Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive and taxation of the digital economy.
The Speakers: Robert van der Jagt is an international tax partner in the Amsterdam office of KPMG Meijburg (The Netherlands) and has joined KPMG in 1988. He has specialized in international individual income taxation (expatriate tax) and European law. Robert is heading KPMG’s European Tax Centre which is based in Amsterdam. This centre coordinates all technical developments in the area of EU tax law. Among his clients are many multinational corporations as well as top executives who are active around Europe and the rest of the globe. Robert has frequently brought cases to the national and European court (a.o. case De Groot concerning the question whether the Dutch method of providing double tax relief was compatible with the EU Treaty). Marieke Koerts is an NYU alumni (year 2009/10) and works as tax manager for KPMG Meijburg in Amsterdam. Marieke has joined KPMG Meijburg & Co in December 2008.
