Discussion Summary: Gordon Brown was Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and, prior to that served as Chancellor of the UK Exchequer (Treasury Secretary) for 10 years. He will address the challenges of achieving more effective global economic governance at a time when some of the world’s previously most dynamic economies are struggling, global trade talks are stalled, and national-level efforts to tax large corporations and reduce corruption are coming under increasing pressure. Few international leaders are as well placed to identify the key issues and suggest ways forward. His presentation will be followed by comments from NYU law professors specializing in international economic law and governance, José Alvarez and Eleanor Fox, and by a Q & A with the audience.
