If you are a 1L or LL.M interested signing up for a mentor or a 2L or 3L interested in becoming a mentor, please see the information below.
For 1Ls and LL.Ms interested in signing up for a mentor:
If you’re a 1L or LL.M. student interested in public interest law, you’re not alone. There’s a vibrant community of students ready to support you. If you have a question about anything public interest – or even just about life in the city – you can turn to a mentor who knows the ropes.
Plus, our public interest mixers give you the chance to meet other 1L and LL.M. students (and, in the spring, employers) who share your interests! **MARK YOUR CALENDAR** for our Public Interest Meet-Your-Mentor Mixer on Tuesday, October 8th, at 6:00 pm on the second floor of Furman Hall in Sexton Forum. That’s where you’ll meet your mentor, schmooze with cool public interest people, and learn about how we can be a resource for you.
Ready to sign up for a mentor? It’s easy. Just fill out our 2-minute survey at: http://bit.ly/NYUMentees2013.
The deadline to sign up is Saturday, September 21st.
For 2Ls and 3Ls interested in becoming mentors:
For the past five years, NYU’s Public Interest Mentor program has linked public interest-oriented 2L and 3L mentors with 1L and LL.M. mentees. As a mentor, you can help build a public interest community for new students. Whether they’re looking for student groups to join or career advice for the summer and beyond, 1L and LL.M. students are eager to benefit from your wisdom (and learn from your mistakes). Share all you’ve learned about NYU, public interest law, and life in New York City!
This is a small time commitment and looks great on your resume. Each mentor is assigned one or two students, and the relationship is what you make of it. You meet with your mentee a couple of times a semester over coffee or at one of our public interest mixers. **MARK YOUR CALENDAR** for our Public Interest Meet-Your-Mentor Mixer on Tuesday, October 8th, at 6:00 pm on the second floor of Furman Hall in Sexton Forum. That’s where a lot of mentors and mentees will meet, and you’ll have the chance to meet other cool public interest people, including friends you haven’t seen over the summer.
The deadline to sign up is Saturday, September 21st.
