About the Panel Discussion:
Thousands of peaceful protestors have assembled on Ukraine’s Independence Square in Kyiv for more than two months. Since January 22, at least five civilian protestors have been killed, dozens are missing, and many more report having been assaulted or tortured. Parallel protests have started in cities throughout Ukraine. The situation is dire, and the country may be facing the prospect of civil war. The expert panelists will address the crisis from a variety of perspectives and be available to answer questions.
The panelists are:
Myroslava Gongadze, journalist at Voice of America radio and widow of murdered Ukrainian journalist
Taras Kuzio, political scientist and scholar on Ukraine
Veronika Szente Goldston, advocacy director for Europe, Human Rights Watch
Pavel Ivlev, Chairman of the Committee for Russian Economic Freedom
Moderator: Mary Holland, Research Scholar at NYU School of Law
The event is free and open to the public. Please contact Jesus Ballivian at jb3095@nyu.edu if you have any questions.
