The 2014 Meeting of the American Society of International Law (ASIL) will meet in Washington, D.C., April 7-12. This is a great networking opportunity for students interested in international law.
ASIL will waive the registration fee for a limited number of students who volunteer to help with the event. Students should contact PILC at pilc.info@nyu.edu for more information on how to sign up to volunteer; we recommend that you sign up as soon as possible before the slots fill up.
Volunteers are required to work at least three of the 5.5 days of the meeting and must volunteer for at least 25 hours. Don’t let that figure discourage you, most of your time is spent actually attending the events you select. The real “work” of volunteering will mostly come in the form of 15 minutes before the start of a session and 15 minutes at the end of a session or the time in between sessions, when you are tracking CLE attendance, making sure the room has been reset properly for the next session, and guiding attendees to their next session. Volunteers must work for at least three sessions in a row (or two sessions and a lunch event). You can’t volunteer for one session on one day and then get the rest of your hours on subsequent days. ASIL will hold two training sessions for volunteers during the joint meeting. YOU MUST ATTEND ONE OF THESE TRAINING SESSION TO VOLUNTEER AT THE JOINT MEETING! The first will be held on Monday, April 7, from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. The second will be held on Wednesday, April 9, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

For the first time in its history, ASIL is partnering with the American Branch of the International Law Association (ILA) to combine each organization’s major conference into an extraordinary joint event. This unprecedented ASIL Annual Meeting and ILA Biennial Conference will take place April 7-12, 2014, in Washington, DC, and will represent a unique and historic gathering of the international law community.
